Sampler, whitework, with needle point lace filling stitches and some raised and detached work depicting Abraham, Sarah, and the Temptation of Adam and Eve.
Linen whitework sampler worked in hemstitch, needle point lace filling stitches and some raised and detached work. The two horizontal bands of needle point lace are set in separate strips of linen, the bottom one is hemmed the other three have selvedge edges. The upper band depicts Abraham with a plate of cakes, Sarah, an angel, half another angel and a tent with a rabbit, a bird and flowers as small detached motifs. The lower band is the Temptation of Adam and Eve including the Angel with the Flaming Sword, with a squirrel, caterpillar, butterfly and flowers as small detached motifs.
