Maker: Townsend, Elizabeth
Band sampler, linen, embroidered with linen, silk and silver metal thread in back, cross, double hem, Rumanian, satin, trellis and needle point lace stitches. The sampler comprises 17 horizontal bands which feature repeat border patterns, an alphabets, the name 'Elizabeth Townsend' and the date '1678'.
History note: Belonged to Mr Marwood Tucker and was worked by one of his ancestors
