Production: Unidentified
Band sampler, linen, embroidered with polychrome silks and a little silver metal thread in cross, double running, satin, eyelet, filling, trellis and needle lace stitches. There is a selvedge at the top and bottom; the sides are turned under and stitched. The sampler is made up of horizontal bands of repeat border patterns, one with 'boxer' figures in contemporary costume, three alphabets, numerals and the inscription 'APRIL THE 4 DAY 1693 MD' with a coronet above the initials.
History note: Given to the donor by M.Minet, who had bought it at Norwich in 1895
