Maker: Essex, Eliazbeth
Band sampler, linen, embroidered with polychrome silks in cross and eyelet hole stitch. The sampler comprises twelve horizontal bands that contain, alphabets (some with each letter in duplicate), numerals 1-14, an inscription, a name and a date. The inscription reads 'Covnt whats more sweet and/fairer then a flower and yet/it blooms and faids within an/hour Elizabeth Essex her/ sampler November the 18 1724'.
