Bordered sampler, wool, embroidered with polychrome silks in cross and satin stitch. A 2 cm wide border of stylized flowers frames the main body of the sampler which comprises six horizontal bands which include a grape vine, fruit trees, a flowering plant, the Spies from Canaan, flowers, a house, butterflies, bushes, a church, parrots, a dog, a farm house with a woman at the gate, a sunflower, fowls, stags, a repeat border pattern of strawberries and the inscription 'E Nealy 1813'.
