Description

Sampler, linen, embroidered with polychrome silks in cross, tent, long and short, eyelet and rococo stitch with French knots. The edges are turned under and stitched. There are repeat pattern borders to either side of the sampler with an alphabet at the top and the inscription 'AO 1742' at the bottom. There are other groups of initials distributed amongst the various floral and figurative detached motifs.
