Linen sampler embroidered with polychrome silks and linen thread in four-sided stitch and pattern or damask darning, including stocking darning stitch. There is a selvedge on the left side, the other edges are turned under and stitched. The sampler contains fifteen examples of darning patterns with a central darned frame enclosing the inscription 'ANNO 1739', 'SVDP' and a coronet.
