Production: Unidentified
Linen sampler embroidered with polychrome silks in cross-stitch. All the edges are hemmed. The band format is almost absent from this sampler apart from four small repeat patterns worked across part of the width matched by an alphabet and the inscription 'MBH 1682' worked across the remainder. Otherwise the pictorial elements are contained within two sections, the dominant pattern being an elaborate flower vase surrounded by floral sprigs and two corner motifs. The small section includes a simple wreath, flower, and bird motif with an orange- and a lemon-tree in substantial pots to either side.
