Production: Unidentified
Linen band sampler embroidered with linen and polychrome silk threads in chain, feather, cross, long-armed cross, and whipped running stitch with French knots. All the edges are hemmed. Most of the sampler is worked in traditional horizontal motifs of stylized flowers, some arcaded some not. The bottom part however, which is separated from the top part by an alphabet and the inscription 'GRS 1719', is exclusively worked in French knots. A wide band at the bottom is filled with detached flower and bird motifs, two corner motifs and a pierced heart and a coronet within a wreath.
