Darning sampler, linen, embroidered with polychrome silks in cross and satin stitch with pattern or damask darning. The edges are turned under, stitched and trimmed with bobbin lace. The sampler comprises of thirteen examples of darning patterns with a further four framing a cockerel, wreath and coronet with the inscription 'ANNA HOUWD 1754'.
