Band sampler, linen, embroidered with polychrome silks in cross-stitch. The sampler is divided into four sections. The first band contains some 33 detached motifs including birds (owl, peacock, parrot on a perch), coronets, crowns, flowers in a vase, fruit trees (one with two birds on it, one with two dogs below it) and a wreath with the initials 'CSD. The second and third bands depict crowns, three alphabets and numerals (1-8, 1-9, 1-13). The final band has about 20 repeat border designs worked.
