Border sampler, linen, embroidered with polychrome silks in cross, hem and geometrical stitches. The edges are hemstitched and there is a tassel in each corner. A border, comprising of outer linen of cross-stitch and a band of lozenges, frames the central section of the sampler. This central area is filled by 10 horizontal bands containing an alphabet, a series of vowels, numerals and a cross.
History note: Purchased in Madrid in 1900 for 2s.6d.
