Band sampler, wool, embroidered with polychrome silks in cross and eyelet hole stitch. The sampler comprises 13 horizontal bands which include alphabets, vowels, numerals, a band of Greek key border pattern, lily plants, a small bird in flight, a fruit basket, crowns, flowering plants, a tree and the inscriptions 'Adorn Thy Self With Grace Prize Wisdom More/Then All The Pearls Upon The Indian Shore/Fear God Be Dutiful To Your Parents', 'My Friends I Hope Your Pleased And So Shall I/If This My Work I May Get Credit By/Much Labour And Much Time It Hath Me Cost/I Will take Care That None O It Be Lost', and 'Ann Gibbons Finished This Sampler February 21/In The Year 1770 At Town Malling Kent Age 12'
