Map sampler, cream silk, embroidered with polychrome silks in chain, random satin, stem and couched stitch. Inscribed in a cartouche in the top right corner 'A Map of England and Wales', 'Blinco 1777' is worked. The map depicts England, Wales, and the Southern part of Scotland, the coastline of part of Ireland, France and the Channel Islands. Black lettering and county boundaries are worked in stem stitch with some couched work and are emphasized by two or three rows of fine polychrome chain stitch. Coastline and rivers are worked with bands of freely worked linear satin stitch with some shading of polychrome silks.
