Eight studies, roughly mounted on a single sheet: a) a nude male, his left knee on a rock, holding a rock above his head, poised to throw it; b) four nude males. In the foreground one kneels on a rock, his arms outstretched to support himself, his right leg stretched out behind. Three figures are grouped behind him, two seated, one standing; c) a female figure running, arms akimbo d) a group of fighting men. Three fall wounded in the foreground and three run towards them from behind; e) a seated river god, his right arm around the neck of an urn from which water issues; f) a seated river god, his left arm supported on an urn from which water issues g) a river god reclining on his right arm, supported by an urn from which water issues; h) a sleeping figure, resting on a boulder
