Folding fan of double silk. The leaf is decorated with three mezzotints of neo-classical subject, coloured and outlined in gold sequins.
Sticks of pierced ivory, gilded and inlaid with cut steels. Guards similar, but with marcasite and mother-of-pearl backing.
History note: Colonel Leonard C. Messel (1872-1953); his daughter Anne, Countess of Rosse (1902-1992)
