Cardboard, printed, applied with prints, and painted in blue, green, turquoise, yellow, puce pink, red, and brown, water-colours; turned wooden handle, with moss-green silk ribbon. One side is printed with a full-length portrait of Louise Bénédicte de Bourbon, Duchesse du Maine, with imprint below 'Tous les Portaicts de la Cour se trouvent chez N.R. .. ? ert fils rue St. Iaques à l'aigle', and below that, outside the frame, in script, 'Louise Benedicte de Bourbon, Duchesse du Maine.' On the reverse, at the top is a map of Asia, and below that three prints of characters from the Italian Comedy, entitled 'Le Docteur Baluardo', 'Isabelle', and 'Scaramouche'. The edge is painted bright red.
