Double paper leaf, lithographed, painted and gilt. Sticks of pierced and carved bone; guards of pierced and carved bone (12+2) rivet of brass, washer of bone, and loop of brass. Front: a bridge, people in theatrical dress, girls making music and a man courting two women. Back: a coastal scene.
Folding fan, double paper leaf, lithographed, painted and gilt. Sticks of pierced and carved bone; guards of pierced and carved bone (12+2) rivet of brass, washer of bone, and loop of brass. Front: there is a bridge with ships in the centre with people standing and sitting on and around it in theatrical dress. On the bottom of the steps there is a group of two sitting women with a woman and a man standing behind them. On the left, two girls are making music with a lute and a harp, two children are sitting on the ground and are playing the pipe; there is also a man courting two women and a man sitting on the balustrade. On the left and right respectively there is a goat and a stag leaping through a scroll. Further left a couple and on the right three girls in front of a pedestal and bushes; in the background on the right there are trees beside the water and on the left there is a fountain and a balustrade. On the left a musical trophy has been added. The top border is of leaves and pink berries and the edging is of gold foil. Back: a coastal scene with a building flanked by bushes and bordered by opulent gold scrolls and flowers. The top edging is decorated with a gold zigzag line. Sticks: Four sticks at a time form a vase of flowers, flanked by deer and bordered by scrolling leaves and big flowers on the top corners. The reverse is undecorated. Guards: Both guards are decorated with an S-scroll on the shoulder, enclosing a rose, in the lower half and the 'Lion of Castile' in the top half. The guards proper are decorated with fruit and foliage.
