Description

Folding fan, decorated with solar disk, the guards with Mon bearing antlers. Sticks and guards; bamboo, black lacquered, the guards with gold hiramaki-e. Face: heavy paper, painted with red lacquer and gold; with cord and tassel.

Note

The mon, a family crest, may be that of the Kondo family. Possibly a gunsen (war fan), used to signal in battle, although these usually had iron guards.
