Silversmith: Walsh, Stephen
Silver; embossed and chased with borders and cartouches of flowers
Silver; circular with broad everted rim; standing on a slightly domed circular pedestal foot. The rim has an applied openwork border of roses, buds and leaves, above an embossed and chased border of flowers and leaves on a matted ground. Of the four cartouches, three contain embossed flowers, the forth is inscribed “Grace”. The foot has a narrow border of chased flowers.

The bowl was probably made in the mid to late 19th Centuryand has 'let in marks'. A disk of silver has been inserted between the bowl and the foot with the earlier marks ‘SW’ over ‘STERLING’ and ‘SW’ over ‘WALSH’ for Stephen Walsh of Cork, circa 1760
