Silver with embossed, cast and chased ornament and engraved crests and arms of Walter, 18th Earl of Ormonde and his wife, Anna Maria Catherine (née Price-Clarke)
Silver with embossed, cast and chased ornament and engraved crests and armorials. Comprising body, detachable rim, and liner. Urn-shaped, standing on four acanthus, scrolll and shell feet on octagonal bases; two ribbed handles, ornamented with shells flanked by leaves, each springing from two maned lion's masks. The lower part of the body is gadrooned; the edges of the shoulder and collar are knurled. The body is engraved twice with the arms of Walter, 18th Earl of Ormonde and his wife Anna Maria Catherine (née Price-Clarke). The detachable gadroon edged rim is engraved twice with the Ormonde crest. The cylindrical liner is engraved once with the Ormonde crest. (One of a pair with M.12 & A & B-1982)
History note: Walter, 18th Earl of Ormonde, created First Marquess of Ormonde, 1816; by descent to the Most Honourable James Arthur Norman Butler, Sixth Marquess of Ormonde (d. 1971)
