Pewter. Octagonal with an applied raised edge, slightly sloping rim, and an oval well with curved sides. The long side of one side of the rim is engraved with the unregistered arms of David Garrick (1717-79).

This dish was part of a service which belonged to David Garrick (1717-79) the celebrated actor, and from 1747, manager of Drury Lane Theatre. If the engraved arms were were tinctured (coloured) the arms would be described as 'Per pale or and azure on the dexter compartment a tower gules and on the sinister on a mount vert a sea horse azure mane, fins and taile of the first, on a chief gold, three mullets of the second' (see Documentation, Burke).
