Tortoise-shell with a small octagonal miniature of a posy of flowers on a grey ground
Tortoise-shell set with a miniature in bodycolour and watercolour on card, mounted under glass in gold. The circular box has straight sides and a flat pull-off lid. Round the edge of the lid and base of the box are gold wide reeded mounts. Round the join are gold rim mounts. The tall octagonal miniature depicts a posy of flowers including roses, delphiniums, narcissi, and morning glory on a grey ground. The interior is inscribed "Given to my Gd.Mother / by S.W. 1788. / left by her to E.W. March 7th / 1807".
