Description

Clear-glazed soft-paste porcelain teapot and cover, decorated with applied prunus sprays.

Soft-paste porcelain teapot and cover. containing bone ash, decorated with applied prunus sprays; clear glaze. Pear-shaped body with small upward curving spout, angular loop handle with an upward scroll at its base, flat cover with central hole, and a curved twig handle.

Notes

History note: Collection of the late Dr Hugh Statham (1895-1967) and Mrs Margaret Statham (d. 1970); lent anonymously in 1970 by their daughter, Miss Beryl Statham (d. 1990) by whom bequeathed

Legal notes

Bequeathed by Miss Statham, accepted by H.M. Government in 1990 in lieu of Inheritance Tax and allocated to the Fitzwilliam Museum
