Description

Silver; circular body with two handles, and a domed cover

Silver; the raised body with slightly flaring sides and moulded girdle, stands on a domed spreading circular foot. The cast harp-shaped handles are capped with a ribbed tongue. The stepped domed cover, which is surmounted by a baluster finial is a later addition to the cup.

Note

The cover is an addition to the cup, which bears the maker's mark of Jospeh Walker and was hallmarked in Dublin in 1719-20; whereas the cover is only marked by the maker 'DM' The rim of the cover is slightly too small for the cup, and the scratch weight on the cup applies to it alone.
