Standing Youth, known as Narcissus


School of Prieur, Barthélemy (Production)


Copper alloy, probably bronze, cast, mounted on a red porphyry pedestal. Figure of nude youth standing with his arms raised and folded above his head. Light red-brown patina, polished. Three small patches in the legs - two are missing.


History note: 1904: Winter Exhibition at R.A., Catalogue. no. 3. Case I, p. 52). William Newall Collection; His Sale, Christie's, London, 27 June, 1922, lot 71; bought by Durlacher (£168); bequeathed by L.D. Cunliffe, 1938.
