Description

Bronze with iron pestle. The waist of the mortar is divided into six panels separated by square columns. One panel contains the finger handle, the other five, a plaque of three dancing children - female inflowing robes - a cartouche - horse and rider, below, two borders, one inscribed the other containing flower rosettes, round the rim a border inscribed 'IHS . MARIA THOBALDO . DE . PIERSIMONE . DE . FABRIANO . ME . FECIT . A.D.M.D.XX.II'
