Copper alloy, probably bronze, cast, patinated, and formerly gilt
Copper alloy, probably bronze, formerly gilt. Cast, with thick dark brown patination darkened to black on the inner surfaces and much rubbed on the outer, probably of 19th century origin. A nude youth with abundant flowing hair striding forward and looking downwards to his front, in the act of drawing an exceptionally large sword from a sheath, which is not attached by any belt or strap to his person. A piece of fringed cloth is draped over his left forearm, and he stands on a flat rectangular raised base.
