Hard-paste porcelain, painted in enamels
Hard-paste porcelain, press-moulded, glazed, and painted in shades of green, reddish-brown, and black. The irregularly shaped oblong base is splashed with green, and has a tree stump at the back mottled in brown and pale green. The sportsman stands holding a gun to his shoulder with one hand on the trigger and the other holding the barrel. He wears a pale green sportsman's cap and jacket, knee breeches of a darker green, white gaiters and black shoes. Suspended from his belt is a white flask, and a short sword; a bag on his back is suspended by straps from his shoulders.
History note: Mr Frank Stoner, London, from whom purchased on 8 June 1917 for £36 by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, Trinity College, Cambridge (d. 1928); taken by Mrs W.D. (Frances Louisa) Dickson, Bournemouth, in accordance with the terms of Dr Glaisher's will.
