Factory: Meissen Porcelain Factory
Hard-paste porcelain, glazed, and decorated with painting in polychrome enamels, purple lustre and gilding. Cylindrical with a projecting rim, and two shell handles, standing on three paw feet. The domed cover has a gadrooned finial. On the front and back there are panels framed by scrollwork in gold with small areas of lustre, and painting in iron-red and purple enamel. Within each panel there is a polychrome Chinoiserie scene. Under the handles there are smaller panels painted with Chinoiseries in purple enamel. The handles are gilded and there are sharply dentilated gold bands round the upper and lower edges of the bowl, and touches of gilding on the feet. The inside of the rim is lustred. The cover is decorated with two large panels painted with polychrome Chinoiserie subjects, and two smaller ones painted in purple enamel. There is a sharply dentilated gold band round the rim and the finial is gilded.
