Maker: Lefrand (Maker)
Bracket clock with 8 day circular movement. In form of an urn.
Dial: The dial consists of two shallow rotating drums each carrying twelve white enamel plaques with black markings. The lower one has roman numerals for the hours and the upper one has dots for the minutes which are marked every five with arabic numerals. There is a fixed arrow design hand.
Movement: 8 day circular movement striking hours and half hours hours on a bell. With later platform lever escapement. The back plate stamped ‘Lefrand a Paris 281' and the inside of the bell stamped ‘Amant'. The movement probably early nineteenth century.
Case: Of bluejohn stone (fluospar) in the form of an urn, with fine quality ormolu mounts including goats' heads joined by swags of flowers, the vase and base united by acanthus foliage, and formerly with a pineapple ? finial now missing.
