The Circumcision
Pottery: unidentified London pottery
Buff earthenware, tin-glazed greyish-white on the upper surface and painted in manganese. Within a circular medallion, framed by two concentric lines, 'The Circumcision'; barred ox-head corners. There is a hole in the top right and in the lower left corner.
History note: From a fireplace surround in the upper room at Sennitts’, the Butcher’s, 17 Peas Hill, Cambridge bought by Stanley Woolston, Cambridge and sold on 26 August 1924 to Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge
