Description

Oval, silver box with tortoise shell lid and base; the top of lid inlaid with engraved silver and mother-of-pearl strapwork and scrolls

Silver with tortoise shell lid and base; the top of lid inlaid with engraved silver and mother of pearl. Oval box with straight sides and projecting moulded edges and a projecting hinge. The slightly domed lid is decorated with a Baroque shell-shaped design which includes interlaced strapwork, scrolls, fish and the heads of two grotesques.
