Description

The Royal International Horticultural Exhibition of 1912 was the forerunner of what would next year and almost annually thereafter be repeated as the Chelsea Flower Show. It was held in the grounds of the Royal Hospital in Chelsea, and replaced the Royal Horticultural Society's Spring Show which would otherwise have taken place that year. A large number of commemorative items were issued for and around the exhibition, and naturally prizes were also given. This piece, and its three siblings in the Museum's collection, are specimens in various sizes of designs of these medals from the workshop of the designer, Allan Gairdner Wyon.
