The steel blade is forward curved and slender, the flat back at the forte accompanied by two fullers, and with a double nick at the forte on the forward edge. The hilt is of red wood, with a short iron ferrule at the blade end, shaped with a central raised rib with two double grooves, and with a flaring pommel. The blade is bright with some staining and lamination. The hilt has numerous old chips around the pommel
