Description

Dish with parrots. Stoneware, thrown, incised and celadon-glazed. This shallow dish (chopsi) has wide everted sides, angled above the foot. The small foot has a low footring. The centre is finely incised with two long-tailed parrots chasing each other in flight, suggesting a rapid swirling movement, the sides are incised with ten cloud motifs and the outside is undecorated. The glaze is evenly applied, of pale bluish green, with a subtle gloss. The base shows three quartzite spur-marks.
