Pottery: Unknown (Uncertain)
Cup stand with flowers. Stoneware, moulded, carved and incised, and celadon-glazed. This flower-shaped cup stand has an eight-lobed tray with a lobed recess around the central pedestal that would hold the cup, and a splayed footring of matching flower shape. The tray is incised with a border of lotus sprays, a flower scroll with six-petalled blooms and a single flower-head in the sunken centre of the pedestal which itself is carved on the outside with inverted lotus petals. Each lobe of the foot is decorated with incised simplified foliage scrolls. The decoration throughout is crisply and finely executed. The pale bluish-green glaze is evenly applied and has a subtle gloss. Three quartzite spur-marks are remaining on the base.

Probably Yuch'on-ri or Sadang-ri ware.
This stand would have been accompanied by a wine cup, which is now missing. The clear jade-coloured glaze, fine decoration and harmonious proportions all indicate that it is a product of the mature period of Koryo celadon. It was probably made either in kiln no.7 at Sadang-ri, Kangjin-gun, South Cholla province, or in kiln no.12 at Yuch'on-ri, Puan-gun, North Cholla province.
