Silver, parcel-gilt; the shallow oval bowl is engraved with foliage; the hinged handle has an ornate finial of a female term
Silver, parcel-gilt. The shallow oval bowl is attached by a rat's tail to the hinged handle, which teminates in a cast finial in the form of a female term, her legs forming her scrolling foliage plinth. The centre of the front of the bowl is engraved with a border of foliage and four fleurs de lis with pendants to four central roundals. The back of the bowl is similarly decorated, but in the centre are two animals' heads with flowers growing from their mouths; beneath them are the initials 'NG' conjoined. Beneath the slide, which is decorated with a human mask, the handle is inscribed 'IE VOVS FAIN SANS HONORES'.
