Bowl with chrysanthemum and lychee design. Stoneware, thrown, inlaid in black and white slip and celadon-glazed. This bowl has a wide mouth, a thick body and a relatively low foot. The inside is inlaid in white slip with a simplified scroll border, three sprays of chrysanthemum alternating with sprays of lychee, and in the centre a single chrysanthemum floret enclosed by a youi-head border. The outside is inlaid in black and white slip with four chrysanthemum medallions set in a band of foliage scrolls between a simplified scroll border and a band of lotus petals. The glaze is greyish-green and on the outside unevenly applied. The base shows three quartzite spur-marks and adhering kiln dust.

Bowls such as this are characteristic for the thirteenth and fourteenth century when they were probably used as soup bowls. They were produced at Sadang-ri, Kangjin-gun, South Cholla province and at Yuch'on-ri, Puan, North Cholla province.
