Pottery: Unknown (Probably)
Cup and stand with chrysanthemum design. Stoneware, moulded, carved and incised, stamped and inlaid in black and white slip and celadon-glazed. The cup, of deep ten-lobed floral shape, has a barbed rim and a high flared foot. A scroll border is inlaid in white slip at the rim and a scalloped petal border above the foot, and between are four chrysanthemum florets on each lobe in black and white slip. Inside the cup floral motifs are faintly incised. The stand has a raised central support, a tray with everted bracket-lobed rim and a splayed, lobed foot. The central support is carved with inverted lotus petals, the tray is inlaid with a scroll border and chrysanthemum florets on the rim, and four single florets around the centre, and on the foot are inlaid peony florets. The greyish-blue celadon glaze is glossy and finely crackled. Both pieces have quartzite spur-marks on the base.
