Pottery: Unknown (Probably)
Cosmetic box and cover with chrysanthemum design. Stoneware, moulded, incised, inlaid in black and white slip, and celadon glazed. This flattened box has a recessed base. The design on the cover has the form of a cash motif with a chrysanthemum floret in the centre and four stylised florets around it, all inlaid in black and white slip. This motif is surrounded by a band of incised scrollwork and a key-fret border around the sides. The greyish-green celadon glaze is evenly applied, and crackled. Traces of fire-clay supports can be seen on the unglazed rims of both box and cover. On the base are three quartzite spur-marks.
