The box lacquered black with crossed taka-no-ha (hawk’s feathers) mon in gold makie. Dimensions of lid 58.1 x 13.9 x 9.5cm

The aikuchi mounting with brown lacquered ribbed scabbard with ishime finish, with chrysanthemum mon, two in pink, six in gold lacquer, and three in shell inlay with gold lacquer outline, all metal parts of silver with chrysanthemum motifs, with menuki of gold chrysanthemums, the silver kozuka of nanako ground with three different types of chrysanthemum in gold inlay, the blade engraved with a minogami turtle, the kogai with three chrysanthemum mon in high releif gold inlay. Length of kozuka 9.7 cm, length of kogai 19.4cm, the kozuka inscribed TOSO ZENGU OSAI KUN (NO MOTOME (NI )OZU ( THE WHOLE OF THE METAL FITTINGS MADE TO THE ORDER OF MR.OSAI) AND SEKI YOSHINORI (THE MAKER SEKI YOSHINORI 1800-1871).
