The fifteenth-century predecessors of this type of bowl have a more strongly flared mouth and a broad but shorter foot, the glaze at that time had a bluish-white tone rather than the greyish white of this piece. This bowl may be a product of Kwanm-ri in Kwangju, which has been identified as a sixteenth-century kiln site.
