Description

Twelve-sided jar and cover. Porcelain, thrown, shaped, incised, and glazed in iron-brown. The multi-faceted body has a sharply angled shoulder and a slightly splayed neck which holds a flat dish-shaped cover, and is angled in above the short straight foot; the footring is straight. The only decoration is a freely incised undulating line on the shoulder. A dark brown iron-oxide glaze (sokkanju), is unevenly applied, in places revealing the white clay body. The base has firing cracks.
