Description

Rice bowl and cover of chrysanthemum shape. Porcelain, moulded, shaped, inscribed in cobalt-blue, and glazed. This rice bowl is of deep rounded form, the cover has a flat top and sloping sides. Both bowl and cover are moulded in narrow lobes and the lip of the bowl is carved correspondingly in floral shape. The top of the cover and the centre of the bowl are inscribed in underglaze-blue with the character pok ("happiness") in seal script. The glaze is of pale bluish tone; it has been wiped away inside the cover which was fired on a circular support. The footring of the bowl shows traces of a fine sandy support.
