Hana no chô
Translated as: Butterfly on the flowers
Designer: Kunisada, Utagawa
Surimono. Colour print from woodblocks, with metallic pigment, blind embossing (karazuri), and burnishing (tsuya-zuri) on the black mirror and stand. Shikishiban. Signed: Ôju (by order) Kunisada ga, with artist’s sada seal in the shape of mimasu (triple rice measure). c.1823-5.
