Small verge watch in oval silver case
MOVEMENT: Oval full plate movement engraved 'Henry Grendon at Exchange fecit'. Balance cock with oval pierced and engraved table, rectangular post through neck, foot pierced and engraved, foot and table with irregular edges, fixed by screw near neck. Brass balance, two unused banking pin holes. Blued steel endless screw with cocks having decorated feet, cover/pointer over endless screw. Brass wheel with no dial. Both potance rivet ends engraved with flowers. Rectangular fusee iron post. Case bolt under dial plate with nib through dial. Rectangular potance, and counter potances, both with engraved sides, riveted to top plate. Pillar plate with four rectangular section, Egyptian pillars engraved on outside, ends turned and rectangular feet. Hole for potance end. Split gut fusee, barrel with two lips, tangent set-up above plate. Verge escapement. Train, three pinions, planted anti-clockwise.
DIAL PLATE: Silver, oval with joint and four tabs to fit case. Engraved dial with radial Roman chapters, ladder quarter ring with half hour marks extended between chapters. Centre engraved with scene of village, flowers engraved above and below dial.
HANDS: Blued steel with three leaf head and long plain baluster counterbalances, both ends the same length.
CASE: Consular (?) silver case with silver cover. Having many polished ribs on case and cover running from the pendant and opening out to form a shell pattern to nearly meet, with rounded ends, on the side, area between ribs matted with small ring punch. Inside of the cover polished, having small stamp of a 'v'. Winding hole in the back of the case, covered by a pivoted shell shaped silver cover. Pendant in the form of a flower, with plain circular ring bow.
