Fritware painted in polychrome under a colourless glaze
Fritware, mould made, painted in blue, turquoise, white and purple under a crazed colourless glaze
Shape: roughly square with slightly bevelled edges
Upper surface: a tri-coloured band frames a central white lobbed arch with spandrels containing white leaves reserved on a purple ground. Within the arch and outlined in black, a floral spray incorporating white and purple lotus flowers and turquoise, black buds and split palmette leaves are reserved on a blue background.
Lower surface: undecorated but with plaster adhered to the surface.
History note: Dome of the Rock, Jerusalem.
