Description

Hybrid hard-paste porcelain, glazed, and gilded. Pattern 198

Hybrid hard-paste porcelain, moulded, glazed and gilded. Circular, of ogee form with ribbed sides, standing on a footring. The domed ribbed cover has a cone finial. The bowl is decorated inside with a horizontal gold band 1cm below the rim. On the outside it has a border comprising a continuous stem of stylized foliage, a horizontal band, and alternating pairs and single motifs formed by three dots with a narrow trefoil or fleur-de-lys above. A gold band runs round the edge of the rim, and there is another round the foot. The cover has a similar border, a gold circle around the junction of the knob and cover, and another a short distance further out. The knob is decorated with gold tear-drops falling from the summit. Pattern 198.
