Description

Hybrid hard-paste porcelain painted in enamels with a pink scale border and rose sprays. Pattern, 273.

Hybrid hard-paste porcelain, moulded, glazed, and painted overglaze in green, red, pink, puce, and pale purple enamels. The cup has deep sides with spiral fluting on the exterior, a loop handle, and footring. The circular saucer (A) has curved sides with shallow fluting on the inside, and stands on a footring. The cup is decorated on the inside with a border below the rim, comprising four pink and puce C scrolls enclosing a pendant trefoil leaf, separated by four broad areas of puce and pink trellis with below, each with a scalloped purple line with five pendant trefoil leaves. The exterior is decorated with a rose spray, two floral sprigs with a detached leaf between them, and on the back of the handle with a puce fan-shaped flower with three spots above, a large spot and a vertical stroke below, and a V on the lower end. The saucer has a rose spray in the centre surrounded by four different floral sprigs and two detached leaves, and the same border round the rim.
